Chopped and screwed
"In 2015 I moved to Berlin. Like everyone else, I was depressed. I started interrogating the notion of a progressive timeline. I started a project on Instagram about pixels, space-time, memory and perception. I asked myself: are images moulded by the past? Is the entropy of a series of images always constant, if the sequence is chopped and screwed?
Photographs I took in Hong Kong, Hamburg, Bangkok, Vienna, Beijing, Barcelona, Shanghai, Dubai, Baoding, and Paris were reselected and weaved together by a semi-detached consciousness - Hopefully the memories would no longer be encoded in chronological order. The experiment lasted a year. Eventually I found out, no matter how many times I shuffle the cards, the encoding is always a result of the encoder. A blob is a blob. I still don’t know whether the entropy is constant. My memories are quite vague. I remember, around 1997, I got a bit picky."
